Welcome! Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing and balance. I first experienced Reiki a few years ago and knew right away that I wanted to learn it so that I could give it to myself and those who would let me share it with them. I had simply laid back and relaxed, expecting nothing more than a quite few minutes of relaxation, but although I certainly did relax I found it was a deep relaxation that helped me sleep better that night and feel more centered and relaxed even the next day.
I went on to learn Reiki and become a Master Teacher so I could not only help anyone who wanted to receive it, but teach anyone who wanted to learn it to help himself or others relax. Reiki energy isn’t complicated and doesn’t require anything more than someone trained to allow it to flow and someone who wants to receive, so it is ideal as a complement to traditional medicine, alternative medicine techniques, or by itself. Since the client is fully dressed and doesn’t have to talk or know exactly where any issues might lie within the body for the energy to flow to where it is needed, it is ideal for those who are sensitive to touch as with a massage. Reiki only involves light or no touch as the client prefers, and it can be adapted for any position or situation for those with special needs.
The word Reiki is from the Japanese words rei and ki and is written in Japanese as 霊気. Since rei relates to spirit, divine, miraculous, and soul, and ki refers to life energy or force we use Reiki to refer to the life energy that flows through us all and especially through someone trained to let Reiki energy flow through him or her. Reiki is not a religion, nor does it require that a person believe in any particular deity or dogma, thus making it idea for anyone who wishes to experience relaxation and stress reduction. Since stress can lead to illness and make illness worse, Reiki works well alongside psychotherapy, Chinese medicine of any form, and traditional medicine, and is wonderful by itself as part of a healthy lifestyle. Reiki doesn’t replace other therapies, but instead complements them if a client requires them as well.
I offer Reiki sessions and classes for those who wish to learn Reiki, and if you are interested in either or have question please email me or call 256-577-3530.
